They moved above their means to the suburbs, where they thought rich folks would mean better friends to raise kids with, to get away from trailer-trash pot and beer and crackhouse methamphetamines. The more refined the people, though, the more expensive their tastes. Their daughter couldn't afford heroin and cocaine at the rate her friends partook. Not with cash, anyway.
